CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Tarek Al Molla said on Friday that Egypt has a roadmap that includes accelerating the implementation rate of projects to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency in cooperation with international partners, noting the Petroleum Ministry implements these projects in all oil industry fields.

Addressing a panel discussion at the Decarbonization Day as a part of COP27 activities in the presence of US Climate Envoy John Kerry, Molla asserted that combating climate change ramifications need the collaboration of all governments and companies in all sectors to fulfill pledges related to protecting the environment.

Addressing a panel discussion at the Decarbonization Day as a part of COP27 activities in the presence of US Climate Envoy John Kerry, Tarek Al Molla asserted that combating climate change ramifications need the collaboration of all governments and companies in all sectors to fulfill pledges related to protecting the environment.

Molla also pointed out that the Ministries of Electricity and Petroleum work on upgrading Egypt’s Energy Strategy 2040 to include more low-carbon energy sources.

COP27 paves the way for Egypt to announce its national low-carbon hydrogen strategy, the minister added.

The Decarbonization Day is an opportunity to discuss projects implemented in the field of decarbonization and emission reduction, in addition to announcing the ministry’s strategy for energy efficiency, the minister said.

Consequences of climate change are too great for a country or nation to bear or faced alone, he noted, stressing the importance of cooperation of all parties, whether developing or developed countries, industrialized or consuming countries, and public and private sectors.

He pointed out that the climate change challenge has become complex, but possible to overcome.
