Exports of garments increase in 1st quarter of 2022

The Egyptian exports of garments increased by 47% in January-March in 2022 to record 641 million dollars in comparison to 435 million dollars during the same period in 2021.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chairperson of the Readymade Garments Export Council of Egypt (RMGEC) Mary Lewis said that the US tops the list of countries importing from Egypt with 379 million dollars during the first quarter of 2022.

The clothes exports increased by 37% in the Arab countries during the first quarter of 2022 to record 67 million dollars, she said.

Lewis asserted that the council is working for opening new markets in all the countries to increase the volume of exports especially to the Arab countries in light of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis which negatively affects the exports of the garments sector.
