Co-ordination with the petroleum ministry has achieved financial savings of EGP 30bn (£) through an integrated strategy for optimal fuel procurement and improved station efficiency, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat has said.
Speaking at a National Press Authority seminar on Sunday, Mr Esmat said the savings were in line with efforts to reduce loads on the grid. He added that expanding renewable energy and the Dabaa nuclear power plant would generate further natural gas savings of between $13.786bn and $40.21bn, depending on global prices.
