Spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Abdel Ghaffar has warned citizens against using antibiotics without a medical prescription.
In statements to Egypt’s TV on Tuesday, the spokesman said the national strategy for rationalising the use of antimicrobial drugs to counteract antimicrobial resistance, which was launched on Monday by Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, will organise the use of antibiotics.
The minister stressed the importance of coordination between the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research through the Supreme Council of University Hospitals and the committee in charge of the three-phase strategy to combat antimicrobial resistance through surveillance, monitoring and making optimal use of and access to medicine.
