Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met in Cairo Sunday a high-level delegation representing the Libyan communications and information technology sector to discuss co-operation.

The visit of the Libyan delegation to Cairo came in the light of several memorana of understanding signed by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli with the Libyan government in April on the enhancement of co-operation in all almost all fields.

During the meeting, Minister Talaat and the head of the Libyan delegation, Faisal Qerqab, who is the chairman of Libyan Holding Communications Company, the main provider of communications services in Libya, signed a new memorandum of understanding on rebuilding the information infrastructure in Libya and benefiting from Egypt’s international cables.

They signed another memo on the building of Libyan human capacities in the fields of communications and information technology.

The two ministers – along with other members of the Libyan delegation – also exchanged views on the best means to enhance co-operation in the coming period, especially in the fields of digital infrastructure, digital transformation, postal services and honing the digital skills of Libyan communications and information technology workers.

Minister Talaat highlighted the importance of co-operation with Libya, referring to close historical, geographic and cultural relations with the neighboring country.

Egypt, he said, backs efforts by the Libyan government for the development of Libya.
