Yesterday was a busy news day, topped with Biden-Putin meeting, Ethiopia slum of AL resolution on GERD, arrest of harasser.

 

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri discussed with Luxembourgish Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn the latest developments in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue and the Palestinian Territories, in Cairo on Wednesday.

 

The African Development Bank (AfDB) approved on Wednesday an €83 million (approximately $100 million) loan to finance the (EGGSP II), second phase of Egypt’s Electricity and Green Growth Support Programme.

The loan is part of the bank support to Egypt to strengthen electricity infrastructure.

 

Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet announced that the state targets increasing its tax revenues by 15 per cent during the current FY 2020/2021. The expansion in the e-invoice system improves the efficiency of the tax system.

 

US President Joe Biden and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin plunged into hours of face-to-face talks Wednesday at a Swiss mansion, a highly anticipated summit at a time when both leaders agree that relations between their countries are at an all-time low.

 

Ethiopia banged on Tuesday a resolution by the Arab League, amid deadlock in negotiations over the disputed Ethiopian Dam.

 

A Cairo International Airport employee reported to have secretly taken photos of a woman’s back was remanded four days in custody and referred for a criminal court.

President of the Executive Office of the Arab Information Ministers Council Meghad Abul Heil has called for activating guidelines on regulating religious discourse in the Arab media, stressing the importance of their endorsement by all Arab and Islamic countries.
