The Ministry of Health and Population has announced that 24,660,107 citizens nationwide have benefited from screening services under the presidential initiative for chronic diseases and the early detection of related health conditions since its launch in September 2021.

Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar stated that the initiative is being implemented through 3,601 primary healthcare units across all governorates, targeting citizens aged 40 and above, as well as individuals aged 18 and older who are identified as being at risk or requiring medical assessment, to facilitate early diagnosis and timely intervention.

The initiative provides free screening for high blood pressure, random and cumulative blood glucose levels, kidney function and body mass index (BMI).

It also offers health awareness and education services, alongside regular follow-up to monitor patients’ conditions and support continuity of care.

Citizens requiring further medical assessment or treatment are referred to specialised state healthcare facilities.

Spokesman Abdel-Ghaffar added that the initiative follows the latest scientific guidelines developed in collaboration with the World Health Organisation.

Healthcare professionals involved in its implementation have received specialised training in screening, diagnosis and referral procedures to ensure effective coordination between primary healthcare units and specialised medical facilities.

The ministry urged citizens, particularly those living with high blood pressure or diabetes, as well as individuals with a family history of chronic diseases, to visit their nearest primary healthcare unit and benefit from the free services available under the initiative.

Abdel-Ghaffar stressed that early detection plays a vital role in preventing complications, improving treatment outcomes and safeguarding public health, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to expanding access to preventive healthcare and promoting a culture of regular medical screening across the country.
