A consultation session between Egypt and Poland has been held in Warsaw under the chairmanship of Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ihab Nasr and Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky.

The two sides discussed Egypt-Poland relations at the political and economic levels, in addition to various aspects of bilateral technical and sectoral co-operation, including the domains of culture and tourism, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Wednesday.

They probed ways to promote joint co-operation in a way that helps boost mutual investments and enhance trade exchange in light of the Polish president’s visit to Cairo last May, during which a number of significant agreements were signed.

During the consultation session, the Egyptian side expressed aspiration to bolster Cairo’s relations with Warsaw in light of both countries’ mutual interest.

The meeting also touched on economic and investment opportunities in Egypt, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and infrastructure projects.

Meanwhile, the two sides exchanged viewpoints on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

They also underscored the importance of Egypt’s relations with the Visegrad Group which comprises Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The meeting tackled the latest developments of the Palestinian problem and Egypt’s efforts to attain peace and reconstruct the Gaza Strip, as well as the most recent updates on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.

The two sides also reviewed efforts made by Egypt to confront illegal migration.
