CAIRO – Egypt asserted on Tuesday its support for the institutions of the Iraqi state and the safety and aspirations of its people, urging for an end to tensions gripping the country to preserve its unity, security and stability.
In a press release the Foreign Ministry expressed keenness on closely following up all unfolding developments in Iraq, calling on all Iraqi parties to continue efforts for calm and de-escalation in order to safeguard the country’s highest interest and the stability of its people.
It called on all differing sides in the country to put their differences aside and place the country’s interest above all other considerations, affirming full support to every step aimed at reducing tension and searching for political solutions conducive to achieving stability.
