CAIRO – Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad underlined the importance of the “Our climate our life” initiative that was launched by Azhar Islamic Research Academy.
She thanked Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Tayyeb for his co-operation as he offered several proposals serving environmental issues in preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) that will be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.
She made the remarks on Monday during a press conference organized by the complex to launch the initiative.
Azhar Undersecretary Mohamed Doweini attended the event alongside the complex’s secretary general Nazir Ayyad.
She said the initiative is meant to create a genuine environmental awareness about climate change issues in the Egyptian community to effectively contribute to protecting the environment.
She stressed the importance of contributing to addressing climate change issues which cast their shadow on all people.
