Welcome to the second News Digest of this week.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed that Egypt is exerting an enormous effort to stabilise the ceasefire between Israel and Palestine and to enable a return to the peace process in co-operation with world powers, foremost among which is the United States.

The Egyptian position was expressed by the General Intelligence Service (GIS) chief, Major-General Abbas Kamel, during a visit he paid to Gaza on Monday, May 31.

Meanwhile, a convoy of as many as 52 trucks reached Gaza yesterday, carrying the humanitarian aid consignments that President Sisi ordered to the Gaza Strip as a gift from him and from the people of Egypt to Gazans.

The Ministry of Health and Population has provided a service for documenting certificates of vaccination to be submitted to the concerned authorities.

Such digital certificates will be authenticated by the foreign and immigration ministries and will meet the requirements of countries that require proof of vaccination status as a condition of entry.

Minister of Local Development, Major General Mahmoud Shaarawi, held a meeting via video conferencing yesterday with Dr. Dalia Latif, Senior Specialist at the World Bank, to discuss developments in the $200 million agreement, previously reached between the two sides, to be used to finance the Greater Cairo Air Pollution and Climate Change Management Project.

The objective of the project, which will be implemented in the governorates of Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia is to improve air quality and mitigate the impacts of climate change in the city.

The Senate approved on Monday a new bill for establishing an emergency medical expenses fund. Such a fund is designed to be spent on medical services not usually covered by the state budget.

For those who hate summer and hot weather, there is interesting news for them.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects that the Tuesday weather will witness a drop in temperature by 4 C° degrees, with the maximum registering 35 C° in Cairo.
