FPT, a Vietnam-headquartered global technology services company, has launched operations in Egypt with the opening of its New Cairo office, marking the company’s first office in Africa.

The company plans to use Egypt as a base to serve clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, building on the country’s engineering talent and its established role in global technology services delivery.

Ahead of the opening, Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), met with FPT executives at the agency’s headquarters in Smart Village to discuss the company’s expansion plans, demand for specialised technology talent and opportunities to grow its Egyptian workforce as operations scale.

The expansion builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ITIDA and FPT at the Global Offshoring Summit in Cairo in November 2025.

The agreement established a framework for supporting FPT’s expansion in Egypt and leveraging the country’s skilled talent to deliver technology services to clients worldwide.

Headquartered in Vietnam, FPT Corporation operates in more than 30 countries, reporting revenue of $2.66 billion in FY2025 and a workforce of more than 44,000 across its core businesses.

The company serves more than 1,100 clients worldwide, including over 130 Fortune Global 500 companies, across sectors such as automotive, aviation, banking, manufacturing and healthcare.

Its technology services span software development, AI, cloud and data solutions, embedded systems, semiconductor design and advanced engineering, including connected-car technologies and in-vehicle software.

“FPT’s entry into Egypt reflects the country’s growing role in the global technology services industry, where access to skilled engineering talent is increasingly important,” said Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA.

“Our focus is on attracting investments that go beyond scale, bringing more sophisticated technology work to Egypt, strengthening local capabilities and expanding the range of services delivered to international markets.”

Elzaher added that attracting more complex technology operations and developing specialised capabilities, including AI-enabled solutions, are important to expanding the range and value of services delivered from Egypt to regional and global markets.

FPT’s Egypt operations began with a team of more than 60 Egyptian engineers delivering software development, AI solutions, application support and other IT services.

The team currently serves clients in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, drawing on FPT’s global delivery network and experience supporting enterprises across multiple industries.

The company plans to expand into European markets, starting with France. The opening of the Cairo office was marked by a ceremony held under the patronage of Nguyen Nam Duong, Ambassador of Vietnam to Egypt.

Attendees included Mahmoud Sofrata, ITIDA’s Vice President for ICT Market Development; Dr Yasser Abdel Bary, Head of ITIDA’s Electronics Industry Programme; and FPT representatives Phuong Dang, Senior Executive Vice President of FPT Software; Kenan Homsi, FPT Middle East Regional Vice President and Managing Director; Mustafa Ibrahim, FPT Middle East Head of Delivery; Thang Nguyen, FPT Egypt Chief Operating Officer; and Mohamed El-Saeed, FPT Egypt Country Head, alongside other representatives from ITIDA, FPT and the Vietnamese Embassy.

“With AI reshaping how technology is built and delivered, enterprises are seeking partners that can combine industry expertise, innovation and consistent execution at scale.

Our expansion in Egypt brings FPT’s AI leadership closer to clients and partners across the region, enabling us to co-create value, foster deeper relationships, and drive sustainable growth,” said Phuong Dang, FPT Software Senior Executive Vice President.

Mahmoud Sofrata, ITIDA’s Vice President for ICT Market Development, said FPT’s investment builds on the complementary strengths of Egypt and Vietnam in technology and engineering.

He highlighted the role of Egyptian talent in supporting the company’s growth and the opportunity to expand technology service exports from Egypt.FPT has developed an AI ecosystem that includes its FleziPT AI platform, AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan, a global workforce of more than 30,000 AI-augmented engineers, and strategic partnerships with leading AI companies.

FPT’s expansion builds on Egypt’s established position as a global destination for offshoring and technology services.

The sector generated $5.2 billion in service exports in 2025, supported by a growing ecosystem of international companies and skilled professionals delivering technology and business services to global markets.
