Aeroflot expelled from IATA board of governors

A spokesman for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said that the CEO of the Russian airline Aeroflot Mikhail Igorevich Poluboyarinov, is no longer a member of the organisation’s board of governors.

The European Union has put Poluboyarinov on the blacklist recently, in the context of escalating pressure on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.

Aeroflot had announced the suspension of its international flights as of March 8, which coincides with Moscow’s exposure to sanctions against the backdrop of its invasion of Ukraine.
