Cutting-edge solutions to enhance service quality, operational efficiency, zone’s appeal to global industrial firms, strategic partners
Telecom Egypt (WE), Egypt’s first integrated telecommunications operator, has entered into a strategic co-operation agreement with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) to develop and enhance telecommunications infrastructure, digital services, and smart solutions across the zone’s industrial areas, ports, and affiliated projects.
The agreement is designed to improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to factories, ports, and other facilities operating within the zone, thereby strengthening operational performance and ensuring business continuity.

Furthermore, it aims to reinforce SCZONE’s position as a globally competitive manufacturing hub and an attractive destination for strategic industrial investments.
The agreement was signed by Ashraf El-Sayed, Head of Enterprise and Corporate Sales at Telecom Egypt, and Dr. Ahmed Lotfy Dorgham, Head of the Information Technology and Digital Transformation Sector at SCZONE.
The signing ceremony was attended by Tamer El-Mahdy, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, and Mostafa Shekhon, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
This partnership forms part of the broader efforts to advance the state’s digital transformation agenda and support the development of major national projects, in line with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
By leveraging the region’s industrial and logistical capabilities, as well as its strategic geographical location, alongside Telecom Egypt’s expertise in delivering advanced telecommunications services and digital solutions, the agreement seeks to foster a more competitive business environment that addresses the needs of both local and international investors and facilitates their future expansion plans.
As part of the agreement, Telecom Egypt will develop and deploy the required telecommunications networks to serve the projects covered by the partnership, taking into account the specific technical and operational requirements of each project.
The networks will provide multiple connectivity routes and access points to enhance service reliability and operational flexibility, while reducing the risk of service disruptions caused by potential outages or emergency situations. This will help ensure the continuity of services provided to factories, ports, and various industrial and logistical facilities across the zone.
The scope of cooperation covers four key industrial zones: Ain Sokhna, East Port Said, West Qantara, and the Technology Valley in East Ismailia, in addition to six strategic ports: East Port Said, West Port Said, Ain Sokhna, Adabiya, El Arish, and El Tor.
The agreement also extends to SCZONE’s headquarters and other projects included within its scope.Furthermore, the partnership supports the implementation of smart digital solutions to optimise the management and operation of industrial and logistical projects, resources, and facilities, while enabling data-driven decision-making.
These solutions will help enhance the quality of services provided to facilities operating within the zone and promote greater integration across industrial and logistical operations. Such capabilities are particularly important in meeting the expectations of global companies seeking manufacturing destinations equipped with reliable infrastructure, advanced digital services, and opportunities for sustainable growth.
Engineer Tamer El-Mahdy, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, stated: “We are proud of our partnership with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), through which we seek to deliver tangible improvements to the services provided to factories, ports, and facilities operating within the zone.
Reliable telecommunications infrastructure and advanced digital solutions enable investors to manage their operations more efficiently, maintain business continuity, and pursue future expansion. These objectives lie at the heart of our collaboration.”Mostafa Shekhon, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE)), stated that the newly signed agreement represents a key milestone in modernising digital infrastructure and strengthening the efficiency of the information and communications technology (ICT) sector across the zone’s ports and industrial areas.
He emphasised that SCZONE’s strategy places strong emphasis on adopting and localising advanced technologies to establish an integrated smart port ecosystem, with the aim of enhancing operational efficiency, streamlining procedures for investors, and reinforcing the zone’s competitiveness in global markets.
Shekhon further explained that the partnership directly contributes to advancing smart industrial city applications, deploying Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and utilising advanced data analytics.
These capabilities will help accommodate the anticipated expansion of industrial and logistical activities, in line with Egypt’s national digital transformation agenda. He also highlighted that the authority’s development strategy is focused on creating an attractive business environment for both domestic and international investors by capitalising on the zone’s advanced infrastructure, qualified technical workforce, and strategic geographical location.
He further emphasised that the project serves as a pioneering example of effective co-operation among state institutions in support of ambitious national initiatives, thereby strengthening SCZONE’s position as an integrated global hub for industry, services, trade, and investment. He underscored that the next phase will prioritise translating the agreement’s objectives into tangible projects and actionable initiatives, guided by clearly defined priorities and supported by close progress monitoring.
This approach will ensure adherence to established implementation timelines and sustain efforts to enhance the zone’s competitiveness on the global stage.
