Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed on Friday the regional developments, including the situation in Sudan and the Iranian crisis, in a phone call with Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Egyptian foreign ministry spokesperson Nader Zaki said the call was part of ongoing communication and co-ordination between the two countries. Their talks focused on fast-moving developments in the region.
The ministers agreed on the importance of continuing efforts to reduce tensions. They also called for calm and political negotiations. The top officials said this would help prevent a new military confrontation and another wave of violence and destruction.
They stressed the need for more diplomatic efforts and contacts with regional and international partners. The foreign ministers said this would give diplomacy more time to advance peace and support regional security and stability.
