The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) and Telecom Egypt have signed a strategic co-operation agreement to develop telecommunications infrastructure and introduce advanced digital services and smart technology solutions across the zone’s industrial areas, ports and affiliated facilities.
The agreement was signed at the SCZone headquarters in the New Capital, in the presence of SCZone Chairman Moustafa Shaikhon and Telecom Egypt Managing Director and CEO Tamer El-Mahdi.
Under the agreement, Telecom Egypt will establish telecommunications networks to serve the projects covered by the co-operation, in line with the technical and operational requirements of each facility.
The networks will feature multiple connection routes and access points to ensure service reliability, operational flexibility and business continuity, while reducing the impact of technical failures and emergencies on factories, ports and industrial and logistics facilities.
The co-operation will also support the deployment of smart digital solutions to improve the management and operation of industrial and logistics projects, resources and utilities, while making better use of data to support decision-making.
Shaikhon said the agreement represents a key pillar in modernising the SCZone’s digital infrastructure and improving telecommunications and information technology services across its ports and industrial areas.
He added that the zone’s strategy focuses on adopting advanced technologies to develop fully smart ports, improve operational efficiency, streamline procedures for investors and strengthen its global competitiveness.
The partnership will also support smart industrial city applications, the Internet of Things (IoT) and advanced data analytics, while accommodating future expansion in industrial and logistics activities.
For his part, El-Mahdi said the partnership aims to deliver tangible improvements in services for factories, ports and facilities within the zone, stressing that reliable telecommunications and advanced digital solutions would help investors manage their operations more efficiently, maintain business continuity and expand their activities.
He added that Telecom Egypt seeks to provide digital infrastructure capable of meeting the needs of major industrial companies and their strategic partners, reinforcing the SCZone’s appeal as a global destination for manufacturing and logistics services.
