President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi received a phone call on Tuesday from Finnish President Alexander Stubb to discuss developments in the Middle East and a range of regional and international issues.

For his part, the Finnish president praised Egypt’s efforts to facilitate a political solution and support de‑escalation, stressing the importance of backing mediation efforts to help reach a settlement and avoid the repercussions of instability on the Middle East and beyond.
The two leaders also discussed developments related to the Palestinian issue. El‑Sisi stressed the need for all parties to adhere to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and swiftly begin the reconstruction of the enclave. He reiterated that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through a serious political process leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two‑state solution and international legitimacy.
The call further addressed the latest developments in the Ukraine crisis, with both sides underlining the importance of reaching a comprehensive political solution as soon as possible.
