Chairman of Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) Ambassador Alaa Youssef met on Tuesday with Palestinian Information Minister Ahmed Assaf and Acting Head of the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo Naji Al‑Naji to discuss media co‑ordination and efforts to convey the realities of the situation in the Palestinian territories to the international community.
During the meeting, Youssef reaffirmed Egypt’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, stressing that it remains the central issue in the Middle East and a core Arab issue. He highlighted Egypt’s continued political and humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian people and safeguard their legitimate rights through a just and comprehensive settlement.
The SIS chairman also outlined the agency’s role in communicating humanitarian conditions in Gaza to international media outlets, including organising visits for foreign journalists to the Rafah crossing to observe Egypt’s efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief supplies into the enclave. He added that visiting delegations have also met wounded Palestinians receiving treatment in Egyptian hospitals, helping provide first‑hand accounts of the humanitarian situation.
For his part, Assaf praised Egypt’s support for the Palestinian cause, commending President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s position against displacement plans and expressing appreciation for the role played by the State Information Service in highlighting developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and supporting the Palestinian narrative before international media.
