As part of Egypt’s strategy to localise renewable energy technologies, Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Esmat and Minister of State for Military Production Salah Suleiman Gomblat held talks with representatives of China’s Boomy Intelligent Group on opportunities to co-operate in solar cell manufacturing, technology transfer and increasing local content.
The meeting reviewed the company’s plans to establish a solar cell manufacturing facility in Egypt and transfer advanced technologies in the sector, as well as potential partnerships in the production of equipment and components used in solar power projects.
Esmat stressed that the electricity sector is continuing efforts to localise the manufacturing of solar and wind energy equipment and build a national renewable energy industry. He said Egypt is open to partnerships that support technology transfer and increase the use of locally manufactured components, noting that the country offers promising investment opportunities in renewable energy and electrical equipment manufacturing.
The minister added that Egypt has made significant progress towards becoming a regional energy hub and a centre for electrical equipment manufacturing, with preference being given to locally produced components in projects implemented under the national energy strategy.
For his part, Gomblat reaffirmed the Ministry of Military Production’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with the Ministry of Electricity and international companies to support projects in solar panel manufacturing and sustainable energy technologies. He highlighted the ministry’s advanced industrial and technological base and its ability to contribute to local manufacturing, technology transfer and the development of supply chains.
The discussions also addressed broader applications of sustainable energy technologies, including opportunities to utilise electrical and thermal energy in advanced industrial and technological applications, support digital transformation and improve energy efficiency across industrial sectors.
