Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Egypt’s Governor to the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Ahmed Rostom has met with an IsDB delegation led by Regional Hub Director Noureddine Mabrouk to discuss the joint country strategy for 2027–2031.
During the meeting, Rostom praised the IsDB as a key development partner in trade financing, securing strategic commodities and supporting the private sector.
He said the joint co-operation portfolio between Egypt and the bank had reached $26 billion, reflecting the strength and depth of the partnership.
Rostom also said the government was finalising the National Economic Transformation Programme, which aims to consolidate structural reforms, maintain macroeconomic stability and boost the real economy, particularly in manufacturing, information technology, energy, tourism and agriculture.
The minister invited the IsDB to participate in the Infrastructure Project Financing Guarantee Mechanism, which is being developed in co-operation with the World Bank Group.
The mechanism aims to provide long-term financing in local currency and mitigate investment risks, he said.
For his part, IsDB Regional Hub Director Noureddine Mabrouk reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to aligning its 2027–2031 strategy with Egypt’s national priorities.
He said the strategy would focus on high-impact sectors, including education, healthcare, water, energy and essential commodity imports.
