Egypt finished second at the ITKF World Traditional Karate Championship, winning 47 medals as the four-day tournament concluded at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.

The Egyptian team collected 10 gold, 14 silver and 23 bronze medals, trailing Poland, which topped the standings with 53 medals, including 18 gold. Brazil finished third with 33 medals.
The championships, held from October 28-31, brought together around 2,000 competitors from 46 countries.

Egyptian Traditional Karate Federation President Rami el-Makkawi said the result reflected the sport’s progress in Egypt and the efforts of athletes, coaches and administrators.
He pledged continued work to develop the sport and prepare athletes for international competition.
