Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on Saturday during an official visit to Bahrain.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed the strong fraternal ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to expanding co-operation, coordination and consultation across various fields, as well as on issues of mutual concern, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Nader Zaki said.

The two ministers also discussed preparations for the third session of the Egyptian-Bahraini Joint Governmental Committee, expressing their hope that it would help advance bilateral ties, particularly in trade and economic co-operation.

They exchanged views on regional developments, particularly the Iran crisis.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm opposition to any threat to the security of Gulf states, stressing that their security is an integral part of Egyptian national security. He also reiterated Egypt’s full solidarity with Bahrain and other Gulf states in the face of any threats to their sovereignty or territorial integrity.

He called for an end to the current escalation and urged all parties to avoid steps that could widen the conflict. He also stressed the need to create conditions for a return to political dialogue and negotiations.

Abdelatty further underscored the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through maritime routes.
