The Egyptian Air Force has organised an educational seminar, under the title, “Spirit of October”, to commemorate the Victory of the 6th October War and highlight the heroism and achievements of the Egyptian military, while raising awareness among successive generations.
The event was attended by a number of former commanders, who took part in the 1973 war, alongside Air Force commanders, officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers.
The event began with a tour of an aircraft exhibition featuring various models equipped with the latest aviation technologies.
A documentary was then offered, tracing the establishment and development of the Air Force over the years and its key role in protecting Egyptian airspace against various threats.
The event also featured a discussion between former October War commanders, and attendees, highlighting the heroism and sacrifices of the generation that fought the war, as well as the pivotal role played by the Air Force in the crossing the Suez Canal, which paved the way for victory.
Addressing the seminar, Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Amr Abdel Rahman Sakr said that the “Spirit of October” was more than a slogan commemorating a military triumph.
It was a renewed work ethic and a message passed down through generations to keep the values of October alive in the nation’s collective consciousness, he noted.
Sakr stressed that the Air Force would continue to modernise and develop its capabilities to protect Egypt’s national assets and safeguard its sovereignty.
The seminar concluded with a ceremony honouring a number of former Air Force commanders in recognition of their sacrifices and distinguished role in defending Egyptian airspace and achieving the October War victory.
