CAIRO — Egypt claimed bronze at the 2026 World Rowing Beach Sprint Championships in Qingdao, China.
Yassin El-Qamati and Ibrahim Mahmoud finished third in the men’s under-19 double sculls.

The Egyptian pair battled hard against some of the world’s best young rowers to reach the podium.
Italy made the stronger start, while a wave hit the Egyptian boat as the race got under way. But El-Qamati and Mahmoud fought back. They regained ground before making a strong late push to secure bronze.
The duo had already made their mark by knocking out defending champions Germany in the quarter-finals. Egypt finished first in 2:26.65, comfortably ahead of Germany’s 2:36.09.

They carried that momentum into the bronze-medal race, beating Italy in 2:26.08. The Italian crew clocked 2:43.10, handing Egypt third place.
Sherif El-Qamati, president of the Egyptian and Arab Rowing Federations and treasurer of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, praised the pair’s performance.
He said their fighting spirit and determination were key to winning bronze, particularly given the challenges they faced during the competition.
