The Minister of Justice Mahmoud Helmy El-Sherif has affirmed that the Egyptian state, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, places the utmost importance on safeguarding the independence of the judiciary.

He made the remarks in a speech during a swearing-in ceremony held on Saturday at the Ministry of Justice headquarters in the New Capital for approximately 700 newly appointed assistant public prosecutors.

Minister El-Sherif also stressed the state’s commitment to providing members of the judicial authority with the necessary means to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

He further emphasised that the Ministry of Justice remains the primary institution overseeing judicial affairs and is committed to cultivating professional talent, removing all obstacles, and completing the necessary infrastructure and technological framework to fulfill the mission of delivering swift and efficient justice.

Speaking at the same event, the Prosecutor General Mohamed Shawky Ayyad stressed that development and investment can be sustained without fair and independent judiciary. He also underlined the importance of the judiciary and the Public Prosecution in defending society security and interests, as well as safeguarding state’s stability and security.
