Egypt and Qatar have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on combating crime, Egypt’s Interior Ministry said, as the two countries seek to strengthen security co-operation.
Egyptian Interior Minister Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq met his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who also commands Qatar’s Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), during an official visit to Egypt, the ministry said in a statement.

The two sides discussed ways to expand co-operation between their interior ministries and shared security concerns, including the exchange of information and expertise, it said.
Sheikh Khalifa said the visit reflected close ties between the countries, while Major General Tawfiq stressed the need for joint efforts to curb organised crime, the statement added.
