Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi held an expanded meeting with a delegation from the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association (EBA) on Wednesday to explore investment opportunities in the outsourcing industry, and review digital transformation projects.
Hindi stressed the importance of regular coordination with the EBA to support the business community and advance digital transformation efforts.
He said around 245 digital services are currently available through the “Digital Egypt” platform, with the ministry targeting more than 400 services by 2030.
He also highlighted the launch of the Digital Identity Platform, enabling citizens to complete transactions requiring personal verification, such as powers of attorney and notarization, fully online.
Mobile phone production in Egypt rose from 3 million units in 2024 to around 10 million in 2025, with production expected to reach 14-15 million units this year.
The ministry, Hindi said, aims to meet most of the local demand, estimated at 18-20 million phones, while moving toward exports.
Hindi also highlighted efforts to expand digital training and skills-building programmes and promote Egyptian AI applications supporting “digital sovereignty.”
On telecommunications infrastructure, he said, the ministry is expanding fiber-optic networks nationwide and extending fiber cables to villages covered by the “Decent Life” initiative.
An integrated data center strategy is also being prepared for launch by year-end, while cybersecurity remains a key priority, Hindi added.
Outsourcing exports reached $5.1 billion in 2025, with a target of $8 billion by 2028, the minister also noted.
