Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co‑operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel‑Aati, held a telephone conversation on Saturday with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to discuss the latest regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

The two ministers addressed efforts to advance Egyptian‑Iraqi co‑operation and coordination on issues of mutual concern.

They reviewed ways to build on the growing momentum in relations between Egypt and Iraq, expand collaboration across various fields, and maintain regular consultation on regional developments.

Egypt vows zero tolerance for Nile encroachments

Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sweilem, has stressed that no violations or encroachments on the River Nile or its floodplains will be tolerated, given the river’s vital importance as Egypt’s lifeblood and a key driver of development.

The minister received on Saturday a report on the progress of the National Project for Regulating the River Nile, including efforts to remove encroachments along the Shubra-Helwan sector, particularly in Manial Shiha and Abu Al-Numrus.

Egypt, India to deepen economic, industrial links

Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, reiterated on Saturday that the strong political relations between Egypt and India provide “a solid foundation for taking economic co-operation to a higher level”.

According to Hashem, Egypt is seeking to attract Indian companies to jointly manufacture, transfer technology, increase local inputs, to turn the most populous Arab country an export hub for African, Middle Eastern, and other markets under Egypt’s trade agreements.
