Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny discussed the future development of EgyptAir’s fleet and opportunities to expand strategic co-operation with Boeing during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the Farnborough International Airshow 2026.

The meeting brought together Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Boeing Global Brendan Nelson, Vice President of Aircraft Sales and Marketing at Boeing Global Anbessie Yitbarek, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Captain Ahmed Adel and Head of Planning at Boeing Global Ayman Thabet.

Minister el-Hefny said the ministry is implementing a comprehensive strategy to modernise the civil aviation sector in line with global industry developments, stressing that upgrading EgyptAir’s fleet remains a key pillar of the national aviation strategy.

He noted that the fleet modernisation programme is based on specialised technical and economic studies designed to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen the airline’s competitiveness and support sustainable growth.

The minister added that the Egyptian government continues to expand partnerships with leading international aviation companies to adopt advanced technologies and innovative operational solutions in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and reinforce the country’s position as a regional aviation and transport hub.

Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Boeing Global Dr Brendan Nelson expressed the company’s appreciation for its longstanding partnership with EgyptAir, reaffirming Boeing’s commitment to supporting the national carrier’s fleet modernisation programme and expanding co-operation across technical and operational fields to meet its future requirements and support continued growth.

Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Captain Ahmed Adel said the airline is continuing to implement its ambitious fleet renewal programme through a strategic vision focused on meeting operational requirements while investing in advanced technologies that improve efficiency and enhance passenger services.

The meeting reviewed EgyptAir’s long-term fleet renewal plans, including future aircraft acquisition programmes, operational requirements and available alternatives to support the airline’s expansion strategy while maintaining efficient operations.

Discussions also covered prospects for broader co-operation in technical and operational support, workforce development and the implementation of international best practices to keep pace with the latest technological advances in the aviation industry.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing co-operation between the two sides in preparation for the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, highlighting the event’s growing role as a global platform for aviation industry leaders to showcase the latest technologies, strengthen international partnerships and announce new areas of co-operation.
