President Sisi stresses importance of Nile River as existential matter for Egypt
Cairo reaffirms commitment to achieving sustainable solutions to outstanding crises
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday in the French city of Évian, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit held in Paris.
President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s commitment to advancing the strategic partnership with the United States across all fields, stressing that the long-standing bilateral relationship remains a cornerstone of regional stability and peace. He also congratulated President Trump on the upcoming 250th anniversary of US Independence.
For his part, President Trump expressed appreciation for the strong ties binding the two countries and voiced Washington’s aspiration to deepen co-operation with Egypt and elevate bilateral relations to broader horizons. Both leaders agreed on the importance of intensifying political consultations and coordination on various regional and international issues in support of peace and prosperity in the Middle East, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy said.

The two leaders addressed key regional developments. President Sisi congratulated President Trump on his efforts to reach an agreement with Iran, stressing the importance of building on such progress to end escalation and conflicts in the Middle East. He emphasised Egypt’s readiness to work with regional and international partners to support de-escalation efforts and achieve sustainable solutions to outstanding crises.
President Trump, in turn, praised Egypt’s pivotal role, as well as President Sisi’s personal efforts, in supporting negotiations and containing regional tensions, reaffirming his commitment to maintaining close coordination with Cairo to promote regional peace and stability.
President Sisi also underscored the need for intensified efforts to resolve ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian issue, which he described as central to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s continued coordination with the United States to implement all provisions of President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza and to restore calm and stability.
The two presidents also discussed the issue of water security. President Sisi reiterated the critical importance of the Nile River as an existential matter for Egypt. He voiced appreciation for President Trump’s attention to the issue. President Trump, for his part, acknowledged Egypt’s concerns and affirmed that he would give the matter top priority in order to reach a fair and balanced resolution.
