Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk affirmed on Monday that the government continues to advance the implementation of the social protection package aimed at supporting eligible beneficiaries and priority groups.

In this regard, LE18.5 billion has been disbursed since the launch of the package in February 2026, reflecting the state’s commitment to strengthening social safety nets and easing the burden on citizens, the minister noted.

Kouchouk made the remarks during a follow-up meeting held at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Cairo to follow up on the progress of the social protection package and assess the disbursement of allocated funds to various beneficiary programmes.

Some LE6 billion has been allocated to provide an additional LE400 in cash support to around 10 million families registered on ration cards, as part of efforts to reinforce direct financial assistance to households most in need, the minister said.

He added that LE1.6 billion has been directed as additional cash assistance to beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama programme, the Child Pension programme, and the Rural Women Leaders programme, with the aim of enhancing social protection initiatives targeting vulnerable groups, the ministry said in a statement.

Kouchouk also indicated that LE3 billion has been allocated to support state-funded medical treatment and accelerate the treatment of critical cases on waiting lists, ensuring improved access to healthcare services for citizens.

In addition, LE4.3 billion has been disbursed to expedite the first phase of the Decent Life initiative, which seeks to complete 1,000 development projects aimed at improving living conditions in targeted communities.

He also confirmed that LE3.5 billion has been allocated to the Egyptian Sugar and Integrated Industries Company to settle outstanding payments owed to sugarcane farmers, supporting the agricultural sector and ensuring timely compensation for producers.
