Under the patronage and the presence of His Excellency Dr Moustafa Madbouli, Prime Minister of Egypt, Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to reinforce collaboration over a three-year period and support the development of Egypt’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and digital services industries.

Aligned with the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022–2026, the collaboration establishes a joint framework to enhance ICT technologies and services across the country. The initiative supports potential expansion in areas such as engineering, research and development (ER&D), Business Process Management (BPM) and Knowledge Services (KS).

The MoU includes co-operation on digital skills training programs, employment fairs and industry events, as well as collaboration with universities to support youth, graduates and students. These activities are aligned with the strategies of ITIDA and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Ericsson and ITIDA have previously collaborated on seminars and capacity-building initiatives related to emerging technologies.

Dr Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, says: “The agreement with Ericsson is part of a broader package with 55 global and local companies expanding their investments in Egypt’s offshoring sector, leveraging our highly skilled workforce, advanced digital infrastructure, and strategic geographic location. These competitive advantages strengthen Egypt’s position as a trusted global partner and enable companies to deliver world-class digital services, empowering enterprises to grow from Egypt to the world.”

Ahmed El-Zaher, Chief Executive Officer of Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), says: “In ITIDA, we view each new center and every expansion as a commitment — a commitment to grow it, and to ensure it achieves its full potential. The MoU with Ericsson, along with others signed during the Global Offshoring Summit, reflects the confidence of global tech leaders in Egypt’s vision and talent. Egypt has evolved from a service destination into a strategic global partner in high-value digital services.”

Kevin Murphy, President of Ericsson North Middle East, says: “Through this collaboration with ITIDA, we continue to build on our long-standing relationship and shared commitment to advancing Egypt’s digital capabilities. Together, we aim to create new opportunities for local talent and strengthen the foundations for a sustainable and innovation-driven ICT sector.”

The partnership reinforces Ericsson’s long-term engagement with Egypt and its role as a strategic partner to government stakeholders. Building on this collaboration, the company will continue to drive innovation and accelerate the adoption of 5G and advanced digital solutions, bringing cutting-edge global technologies to Egypt’s rapidly evolving ICT sector. Through this collaboration, Ericsson aims to support Egypt’s digital transformation and contribute to youth development and national growth, in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
