CAIRO – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli Sunday hailed the unprecedented leap achieved by Egypt in local manufacturing and transport infrastructure throughout the past years.
Madbouli made the remarks on the sidelines of inaugurating the 6th Smart Transport, Infrastructure, Logistics & Traffic for the Middle East & Africa (TransMEA2025), which is held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and runs till Tuesday.
Attending the opening were a large number of ministers, along with transport and industry ministers from Arab, African, and European countries, a host of ambassadors from around the world, and the heads of major international and local companies specializing in transport and industry.
This year’s exhibition enjoys broad international participation, featuring 500 global companies from 30 countries, reflecting the growing global interest in Egypt’s expanding role as a hub for industrial and transport development.
While addressing the opening of the conference, Madbouli said that industry has become a key pillar for increasing growth rates, deepening local manufacturing, achieving self-sufficiency, and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
For his part, the transport minister said that this year’s exhibition is held under the slogan “Industry and Transport Together for Sustainable Development”.
He added that the event comes in line with the directives of President Sisi to support and develop transport services and infrastructure, strengthening the local manufacturing sector, and maximizing Egyptian industry to meet domestic needs across various sectors, reduce imports, and subsequently expand exports to generate foreign currency and boost national income and the Egyptian economy.
