CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs. Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty Sunday opened the first annual conference for heads of Egyptian missions abroad, with the participation of Egypt’s ambassadors overseas and senior foreign ministry officials.

While addressing the event, Abdelatty stressed the pivotal role played by the foreign ministry in defending Egypt’s interests abroad.

The conference aims to review Egypt’s foreign policy priorities, follow up on the work of embassies, consulates, and relevant sectors at the ministry’s headquarters and explore ways to enhance consular services for Egyptian communities abroad.

The foreign minister highlighted ongoing efforts to restructure the ministry to ensure smooth operations and improve institutional performance.

He stressed the importance of continuing to develop training and capacity-building programs in line with job requirements, enhancing the ministry’s ability to carry out its duties effectively.

He underscored the role of Egyptian missions in attracting foreign investment, boosting trade, promoting economic opportunities in Egypt, opening new export markets and supporting the private sector’s role in the national economy.

Abdelatty highlighted government measures to improve the investment climate and increase Egyptian export penetration.

The foreign minister reviewed Egypt’s consistent stance on various regional and international issues, affirming that the country follows a balanced approach to strengthen its global standing and serve its national interests amid complex regional and international conditions.

“The national interest is the primary reference point for shaping Egypt’s foreign policy,” Abdelatty said, stressing the need to intensify coordination with host countries to achieve shared interests in light of current geopolitical shifts.

He emphasized the ministry’s strong commitment to supporting Egyptians abroad, citing ongoing efforts to improve consular services in line with Egypt’s digital transformation and performance efficiency initiatives.

Abdelatty directed holding regular meetings with Egyptian expat communities to understand their concerns, hear their suggestions and update them on new initiatives launched by the foreign ministry.

The top diplomat also addressed the cultural dimension of diplomatic work, highlighting the importance of cultural promotion as a cornerstone for enhancing Egypt’s international image, showcasing its civilization and artistic heritage, and celebrating its cultural diversity.

The conference featured an interactive discussion, during which Abdelatty listened to proposals from mission heads on improving performance and adapting work mechanisms to current regional and international challenges, with the aim of advancing Egypt’s national interests.
