The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has commended Egypt’s airspace for its remarkable safety, efficiency, and pivotal role in accommodating air traffic amidst recent regional political tensions and the closure of several neighboring routes.

IATA’s Regional Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa Kamel el-Awady praised Egypt’s effective management of air traffic, highlighting its ability to maintain seamless operations during exceptional periods.

“Egypt’s experience in accommodating air traffic crossing Egyptian airspace during regional tensions and the closure of several neighboring airspaces reflects the extent of international confidence in the efficiency of air traffic management in Egypt,” el-Awady stated.

He further confirmed Egypt’s confirmed position as a “safe and pivotal air corridor in the region.”

El-Awady also acknowledged the significant advancements within Egypt’s civil aviation sector, commending the “outstanding technical performance demonstrated by Egyptian airspace during exceptional operational periods,” which has garnered widespread international acclaim.

These remarks were made during a meeting between Miniter of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny and Kamel el-Awady at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The delegation included several leaders from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its affiliated companies.

For his part, El-Hefny reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with IATA across various facets of the air transport industry.

He specifically highlighted key areas such as training, technical expertise exchange, enhancing human resource efficiency, and airport development.

El-Hefny further stressed the Ministry’s keenness to collaborate with IATA on air navigation services, recognising their critical importance in ensuring the safety and efficiency of air traffic management.
