Egypt’s National Election Authority (NEA), led by Counselor Hazem Badawi, has announced the final list of candidates who will run in the upcoming Senate elections, which will be held abroad on August 1 and 2, and inside Egypt on August 4 and 5.
Election monitoring committees, located in 27 courts of instance across various governorates of Egypt, announced yesterday the final list of candidates for both the individual and list-based systems.
The lists were posted in locations outside the respective courts after the NEA was notified, and following the completion of the appeals process before the State Council judiciary.
As of today, the official campaigning period for candidates has begun.
This period will continue until the end of July, after which the “electoral silence” period will commence, during which candidates are prohibited from engaging in any form of campaigning.
Tomorrow is the final deadline for candidates wishing to withdraw from the race. No withdrawal requests will be accepted after that date.
