CAIRO – Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib said Egypt’s automotive sector is going through a structural transformation focused on increasing local production, integrating clean technologies, and expanding value chains.
During a roundtable in Shanghai with Chinese automotive firms, Khatib stated that the government views this industry as a priority for industrial growth, export expansion, and job creation.
He confirmed the ministry’s plans to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional manufacturing and export hub, particularly for electric vehicles.
He added that the government is supporting the sector through regulatory reforms and incentive policies to organize the market, attract investment, and encourage the adoption of advanced manufacturing.
Electric vehicle development remains central to Egypt’s Vision 2030, he added.
