Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Sunday affirmed that political solutions and diplomatic negotiations are the sole way to achieve regional security and stability as well as a lasting settlement that ends the current tensions and ensures a more secure and stable future for the peoples of the region.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, on the sidelines of the meeting Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) Foreign Ministers Council in Istanbul, Turkey.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation of the time-honoured relations between Egypt and Bangladesh.

He underscored the importance of enhancing economic, investment and trade relations between the two countries, through cooperation in major projects and supporting partnerships between business communities in both countries.

Meanwhile, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s keenness to boost bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of health, tourism, and agriculture, alongside enhancing cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting touched on Egypt and Bangladesh stance regarding counter-terrorism, with Abdelatty emphasizing Egypt’s pivotal role in combating terrorism at both the regional and international levels through the adoption of a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy.

The top Egyptian diplomat also highlighted the important role of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in promoting the values of tolerance and moderation.

As regards the rapid developments in the Middle East, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s deep concern over these unfolding events and their threat of sliding further into escalation and chaos.
