CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad met Friday with Under-Secretary-General of the UN and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Rola Dashti and her accompanying delegation to discuss technical support the ESCWA could offer to Egypt as part of preparations for the Parties (COP27) of the UN Climate Change Conference, set for Red Sea Resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh later in the year.

The two sides also tackled cooperation as regards number proposed climate initiatives to be launched during the gathering.

The minister welcomed ESCWA’s request to offer technical support to Egypt and help in organizing the event.

Meanwhile, Dashti shed light on the Climate/SDGs Debt Swap Mechanism launched by the ESCWA to serve the interests of both the developing and the developed countries, saying it would be presented as part of the initiatives that Egypt will float during the climate gathering.
