President Abdel Fattah El Sisi performed Friday prayers at the Field Marshal Tantawi Mosque in Cairo, honoring Martyr and Veterans’ Day. This occasion also marked the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan, which aligns with the October 6 Victory of 1973.
Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed El-Tayeb, Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Lieutenant General Abdel Meguid Saqr, and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, were present at the prayer.
A number of ministers, governors, and commanders of the main branches of the Armed Forces also performed the Friday prayer.
Sheikh Sayed Abdel Bary delivered a sermon titled “A Month of Victories and Martyr’s Day,” in which he pointed to the most prominent epics and heroics achieved by Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan throughout history.
He said the blessed month witnessed successive victories through sincere reliance on God, striving and perseverance, leading to the glorious victory on the 10thof Ramadan (October 6, 1973).
The sermon elaborated on the virtue of martyrdom for the sake of God and the high-ranking position of martyrs who sacrificed their lives to preserve the nation’s security.
Following the prayer, the President met with top commanders of the Armed Forces in the presence of Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Abdel Meguid Saqr, and Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa.
The President congratulated the Armed Forces on the anniversary of the 10thof Ramadan victory, which coincides this year with the marking of Martyr and Veterans’ Day. He paid tribute to the nation’s martyrs, whose valor paved the way for ongoing dedication and the realization of national advancement in every sector.
During the meeting, President El Sisitouched on a number of topics and issues of international and regional importance and expressed his appreciation for the Armed Forces’ efforts to protect the nation.
