Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Samih El-Hefny, met with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Cairo, Askar Jenis, to discuss enhancing air connectivity between the two countries. The talks, held at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on increasing the number of direct flights to boost tourism and exploring the launch of a cargo route between Cairo and Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city.

El-Hefny highlighted that expanding air links aligns with Egypt’s strategy to strengthen aviation ties with global markets, particularly in Central Asia. He noted that additional flights would positively impact inbound tourism from Kazakhstan.

The minister also emphasised that establishing a cargo service between Cairo and Almaty would facilitate Egyptian exports to Kazakhstan and the wider Central Asian region, supporting international trade.

For his part, Ambassador Jenis praised Egypt’s role as a regional aviation hub and stressed that improved air connectivity would enhance economic and cultural ties. He added that facilitating travel for businesspeople and investors would stimulate investment and trade.

Jenis further noted that Almaty, as Central Asia’s financial and economic center, could serve as a key gateway for Egyptian air cargo to the region’s markets.
