President of the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology (E-Just) Amr Adly received Japan’s Ambassador in Cairo Fumio Iwai at the university’s main campus in New Borg El Arab City.

This marked the ambassador’s first visit to the university, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Japanese Embassy.

During the meeting, Adly discussed avenues of academic and research collaboration with Japanese universities and the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

He also emphasised the significance of this visit as a new step toward strengthening the close co-operation between Egypt and Japan, ensuring continuous progress in education and scientific research.

Adly reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and highlighted its role as a centre of excellence in research, education, and industrial support.

In addition, Adly underscored the importance of direct cultural exchange for deepening mutual understanding among nations, stating that cultural interaction plays a crucial role in building strong and sustainable relationships.

For his part, Ambassador Iwai and his accompanying delegation toured the university’s campus, visiting the Ahmed El-Gohary Research Excellence Centre, which houses a distinguished array of laboratories, and the central library, named after Ambassador Fayza Aboulnaga.

The visiting delegation also met with a number of students of TICAD- an initiative that supports the development of the African continent- and Japanese language professors.

The meeting emphasised the importance of cultural exchange, and promoting language education between Egypt and Japan.

The delegation also held a meeting with representatives of the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), and the two sides discussed ways to enhance current and future co-operation between the university and Japan
