Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi discussed on Tuesday with Mr Iwai Fumio, Japan’s Ambassador to Cairo, opportunities for collaboration in several key areas at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The discussions focused on the Ministry’s future priorities, including the expansion of early childhood nurseries to help integrate more women into the workforce.

The two officials also explored potential cooperation in the care of elderly people in nursing homes and improving accessibility for people with disabilities, particularly in hospitals.

Minister Morsi also shared insights from the Ministry’s Child Department, which had benefited from a month-long visit to Japan to learn about their nursery systems.

For his part, Ambassador Fumio expressed his appreciation for the ongoing co-operation with the Ministry, especially through JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), and affirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s social development efforts.

The diplomat lauded JICA’s recent training initiatives in agriculture and their experience working with civil society organizations.

The two sides reiterated a mutual emphasis on strengthening cooperation in various fields.
