Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received a detailed report on the efforts exerted by the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) in the past period to guarantee the stability of the medicine system and providing its needs, including row materials, medicines and medical stuff.

Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the report pointed out to the outcome of working on localizing different pharmaceutical industries with local companies and multi-nationality companies.

The report highlighted that the imported medicines represent 5.56% of the value of total sales of the Egyptian drug market in 2023, the spokesman said.

The report highlighted the measures adopted by EDA in order to guarantee providing different medical products as well as periodic follow up to ensure safe and effective provision of medicine to the citizens.

EDA seeks meeting local market needs of medicine, he said.
