Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has issued three republican decrees stipulating the formation of the country’s media and press commissions; namely, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, the National Press Authority and the National Media Authority. The new formations will remain in effect for four years.

By virtue of these decrees, the chairmanships of these commissions go to Khaled Abdel Aziz, Abdel Sadeq el-Shorbagy and Ahmed el-Maslamani, respectively.

The first body, the Media Regulation Council, has been formed of:  

• Counselor Abdel Salam el-Naggar, VicePresident of the State Council,

• Dr. Mahmoud Mumtaz, Head of the Competition Protection and Anti-Monopoly Authority,

• Dr. Hossam Saqr, representative of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority,

• Abdel Mohsen Salama, a public and experienced figure, 

• Ola Kamal El-Sayed El-Shafei, Journalist,

• Essam El-Amir, Media Professional.

• Adel Hamouda, a public and experienced figure, and

• Dr. Mona El-Hadidi, representing the Supreme Council of Universities.

The second body, the National Press Authority, has been formed of:

• Counselor Mahmoud Ammar, Vice President of the State Council,

• Yasser Sobhi, representing the Finance Ministry,

• Alaa El-Din Thabet, a public and experienced figure,

• Amr El-Khayat, a public and experienced figure,

• Hamdi Rizq, representing the national press,

• Osama Abu Pasha, representing workers in press establishments,

• Sameh Rizqallah, representing the national press, and

• Sahar Abdel Aziz El-Geara, a public figure and expert.

The third body, the National Media Authority, has been formed of:

• Counselor Hammad Makram, Vice President of the State Council,

• Khaled Noufal, representing the Finance Ministry,

• Engineer Walid Zakaria, representing the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority,

• Osama Kamal, a public and experienced figure,

• Reham el-Deeb, a public and experienced figure,

• Hala Hashesh, representing the Media Syndicate,

• Sami Saadoun, representing the General Syndicate of Press, Printing, and Media Workers, and

• Safia Mustafa Amin, a public and experienced figure.
