Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators in Russia(ATOR) Maya Lomidze said Egypt came at the top of Russian citizens’ tourist destinations abroad for the New Year celebration.
In statements to the Russian news agency Sputnik, she said initial statistics show that about 550,000 Russian tourists traveled for the new year vacation including 300,000 travellers to tourist sites inside Russia and 250,000 to foreign countries.
As many as 125,000 Russians travelled to Egypt’s Red Sea resorts, she said, noting that Turkey came in the second position, followed by the UAE, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Maldives.
