South Korea’s Ambassador in Cairo Hong Jin-Wook said Egypt is actively working on developing infrastructure of various sectors, referring to the New Administrative Capital, urban development, transport, environment and energy.
He made the remarks during a seminar organised by the South Korean embassy in Egypt in partnership with the Korea Trade Investments Promotion Agency (Korta), and the office of the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Eximbank) in Cairo.
The seminar was held under the theme of “Korea and Egypt project 2024” to promote bilateral cooperation.
The ambassador said development projects offer a chance for enhancing co-operation, especially through collaboration with Korean companies, which possess extensive experience and capabilities.
He added that Korean companies are actively participating in the manufacturing sector in Egypt as they produce electronics and smartphones, referring to their successful cooperation with Egypt in fields like the nuclear power plant, transportation infrastructure and construction of oil refineries.
He added that various projects introduced during the seminar are vital for sustainable development in Egypt and long-term development.
He voiced hope that the seminar will help boost Korean companies’ contribution to the development process in Egypt and promote economic co-operation between the two countries.
The ministries of transport and international co-operation participated in the seminar alongside Egyptian companies.
About 45 Korean companies in various sectors took part in the seminar to explore cooperation opportunities in projects in Egypt.
