CAIRO – Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk announced that the price of subsidized bread, which is sold at 20 piasters per loaf on ration cards, will not change despite the recent increase in diesel prices.
The General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), representing the state, takes into account all cost factors and production inputs involved in manufacturing subsidized bread, including the prices of diesel and gas, in line with decisions made by the Fuel Automatic Pricing Committee (FAPC), Farouk said in a statement.
The state continues to cover the difference in production costs and compensates bakery owners through GASC, he added.
