Al Azhar University President Salama Dawood lauded the successful tour made by Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb to three southeast Asian countries (Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia).
He said El Tayyeb’s tour reflects Al Azhar’s universal message, as being a key soft power for Egypt and the Islamic world.
Dawood’s remarks came during his meeting with Al Azhar imam on Thursday at the headquarters of Al Azhar Sheikhdom.
Al Azhar University’s president was accompanied by Head of the World Association for Al Azhar Graduates Abbas Shoman and President of Al Azhar Academy for Training Imams, Preachers and Fatwa Researchers Muhammad Al Mahrasawi.
Dawood paid tribute to El Tayyeb’s sincere efforts to serve the Islamic community at the local, regional and international levels.
