Planning ministry keen on boosting co-operation with France 1 - Egyptian Gazette

CAIRO – Egyptian Planning Minister Rania al-Mashat asserted her ministry’s keenness on increasing co-operation with the French side in light of the state’s attention in the coming period to the prioritised files, topped by implementing economic and structural reforms encouraging the private sector, improving investment atmosphere, encouraging efforts to localise industry and merge in the international value chains and increasing social protection efforts.

This came on Thursday during Mashat’s meeting with French Ambassador to Egypt Éric Chevallier.

Mashat expressed Egypt’s appreciation of the relations with France, especially after the great development witnessed at the bilateral level and mutual visits of both countries’ leaderships.

The Egyptian-French cooperation witnessed a strong push forward since 2019 reflecting keenness of both countries to implement partnerships to push forward the march of development, she said, adding that a memorandum of understanding was inked for strategic partnership in social and economic development between Egypt and the French Development Agency in 2019-2023, including the most important cooperation axes according to Egypt Vision 2030.

She reiterated the importance of the role of the joint industrial committee between Egypt and France at a time when the government is working on increasing the efforts of localizing industry, focusing on productive sectors and opening new horizons for private sector to attract local and foreign investments.

Meanwhile, Chevallier asserted French appreciation to partnership with Egypt.

The meeting tackled means to boost cooperation to encourage local manufacturing within the framework of the Egyptian-French partnership.
